The Leicester community radio which was formerly known as Ghetto Fm is an Afro-Caribbean community radio station in the city of Leicester that covers news, information and plays series of music and as well gives employment opportunities to the Leicester community. It covers across different ethnic groups and uses English as the domineering language. Its aim as a radio station is to carter for the needs of the societies by tackling different societal issues which affect people of different age groups [http://ofcom.co.uk/].

==Late History==
Leicester community radio has been in existence and was first aired since October 1983. It started with just five volunteers as at then with listeners who have grown from 400 to about 900 at the moment [https://lctr45.wixsite.com/lctr]. 

==Early history==
Leicester community radio was founded byDesmond Belle and co partners with Samuel Hunt and it currently occupies a space at the Afro Caribbean centre at Maidstone road Leicester. It runs a day programme which started since October 2017. It covers local interviews, sports events, entertainments and it starts from 7:am while the night programme is from 9:pm till midnight and basically plays all sorts of music like Reggae music, hip hops, blues, Afro beats etc. Currently, they have over 900 listeners and with about 40 volunteers who cover the programmes.[https://lctr45.wixsite.com/lctr]. According to an interview with the director ,they have a free online radio which started since 2015 and it is accessed by all, a radio 87.7 FM and 1449 AM. The FM was denied a 28 days licence as at 2018 but the radio 1449 AM have a full one year licence to operate at the Afro Caribbean centre. They work hand in hand with the Leicester city council to ensure the community is well served.
